Description
Flying in a helicopter is an exhilarating experience, giving an amazing view of the surrounding landscape as well as being an extremely glamorous way to travel! Upon arrival at the site in West Sussex, receive a pre-flight briefing, running through how the helicopter flies and how the controls affect flight. Then, board the helicopter for the vertical take-off. Fly over the West Sussex scenery for a 30 minute flight, during which there is a chance to take control of the helicopter for a truly hands-on experience.
Availability: Flights operate seven days a week throughout the year, excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Weather: Helicopter flying is weather dependent, mainly due to wind speeds and cloud cover. It is CRUCIAL to call for a weather check. For morning bookings, call the venue the day before. For afternoon/evening bookings call on the day before setting out. Duration: Please allow up to one hour at the venue. Time in the helicopter is around 30 minutes from engines-on to engines-off. This includes warm-up, take-off and landing. Numbers On Day: The briefing might be shared but the flight is held one a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch the take off and landing. A pair of binoculars or a camera will come in handy. The club lounge offers advantageous viewing over the airfield. Dress Code: Please bear in mind that the cockpit can get quite warm, so dress accordingly. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to sign a consent form. Minimum height is 5′ and maximum height is 6’4”. Maximum weight is 14 stone. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence. To qualify for a PPL you need a minimum of 45 hours dual-control flying, of which at least 10 hours must be solo flying.
