Tiff Needell’s appearances on Top Gear and 5th Gear have made it clear that he is the master at sliding fast cars sideways around the track. This is an amazing chance to experience Tiff’s legendary car control first-hand from the passenger seat of a BMW M4, whilst also experiencing some incredible driving yourself. After two demo laps by an instructor, take the wheel of a Porsche Cayman for three laps of Thruxton’s 2.4 mile circuit, before driving a Formula Renault single-seater for five exhilarating laps. Then hold on tight as Tiff takes you for three high-speed laps, pushing the BMW to its absolute limits. With the thrilling drives over, take home an HD DVD of the laps with Tiff plus a personally signed copy of Tiff’s autobiography ‘Tiff Gear’.

Availability: At least one Tuesday, Thursday or Friday date each month between February and November. Dates fill very quickly, so please allow at least six weeks advance booking notice. Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice or severe rain) which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue if in doubt. Any unused laps are credited for another visit. Duration: Lasts around three hours, including a briefing, safety guidance, driving time and debrief. Numbers On Day: All in-car tuition is on a one-to-one basis including the high speed laps with Tiff. Briefings are shared with up to 16 people. Spectators: Spectators are welcome. A camera will come in handy. The venue offers good facilities for spectators and drivers. Children must be closely supervised at all times and dogs are not permitted at any circuits. Dress Code: Dress comfortably (preferably avoiding synthetic clothing) and wear narrow, flat-soled shoes. A helmet and any special clothing are provided. Guidelines: Thruxton circuit is adjacent to and well signposted from the A303 between the M3 and M4, approximately one and a half hours from London. Proceed through the main entrance, up the drive and through the tunnel. The tunnel entrance is slightly off to the left at the top of the rise. Turn immediately left into the paddock car park and at the far end you will see the media centre building where you will need to sign in. Restrictions: Minimum height is 5’1”, maximum is 6’5”. Maximum weight is 18 stone. All participants must sign a disclaimer confirming a full British or international manual driving licence and good health. Other Info: Thruxton is one of the fastest circuits in the UK and a popular course in the British Touring Car championships. For safety reasons, revs are limited. Buy extra laps in the Formula Renault on the day, subject to availability. When booking expect to be offered the choice of buying a collision damage waiver at £20 to £40 additional charge. Please note there is no obligation to purchase this optional waiver.
