For the ultimate aerial thrill, look no further than tandem skydiving. Not for the faint hearted, this experience offers an unrivalled adrenaline rush, coupled with sensational bird’s-eye views of the County Durham countryside. Kick off with a full briefing and training session before getting kitted out ready for action. After a few safety checks, get strapped to your qualified skydiving instructor and head to the clouds in an aircraft. Once at 10,000 feet, it’s time to jump – sit on the edge of the plane’s exit and perform a tandem skydiving jump, enjoying up to 45 seconds of exhilarating freefall. Next, the instructor deploys the parachute and gently guides you both back to ground level – a prime opportunity to take in views.

Availability: Weekends from February – November, plus Wednesdays, Fridays and bank holidays and often daily during the second whole week of each month during summer. Weather: The jump itself is subject to weather conditions for this reason, cancellations are always made with your safety in mind. Duration: Expect to be at the centre for up to three hours, including a 45 minute briefing and training session, 20 minute in the aircraft and five minutes of skydiving action. Numbers On Day: Training may be shared, but the jump is held on a one-to-one basis with a fully qualified skydiver. Spectators: Spectators are welcome and there are facilities on-site for refreshments. A camera and binoculars come in handy. Dress Code: Dress warmly and comfortably and wear trainers, not hard boots. A jump suit and all other equipment is provided. Guidelines: Restrictions: Maximum weight 15 stone 7lb. Minimum age 16.
