Got a head for heights, nerves of steel and a love of the great outdoors? Then head to the Highlands for a day climbing one of the world’s classic mountaineering routes. With the services of a private guide, you’ll tackle a suitable route in the climber’s paradise of Glencoe. It will be challenging, exhausting and occasionally nerve-racking – but also uplifting, inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful. After being fully equipped by an experienced guide who will place all ropes and protection, enjoy the fresh air and spectacular surroundings in complete safety. Back at the National Ice Centre receive a mug of hot chocolate, before rewarding your aching limbs with a sauna and steam.

Availability: Available all year round. Please allow at least six weeks advance notice for weekend bookings. Weather: Your experience will be tailored to suit conditions on the day. Extreme weather would mean either climbing at the indoor centre or postponing. You must call the venue the day before your booking to check on climbing conditions. Duration: A mountain day can last for up to ten hours, but seven to eight is more typical. The Ice Factor can arrange a shorter, easier day on request. Numbers On Day: This is a one-to-one experience for just you and your guide. Spectators: The experience isn’t suitable for spectators, but is perfect for two people – if you’d like to bring a friend along, please call us to upgrade to a voucher for two. Dress Code: Dress warmly and bring a change of clothes for when you’ve completed your climb. Wear warm waterproofs if you have them. Lots of thin layers are much more effective than one large bulky layer. All climbing equipment will be provided. Guidelines: Kinlochleven is in the western highlands of Scotland near Ben Nevis and Glencoe, around two hours’ drive north of Glasgow. From the A82 take the B863. Once you enter Kinlochleven the venue is well signposted. Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Participants should have good endurance and be able to keep moving all day on uneven ground.
