Description
Get acquainted with the iconic De Havilland Chipmunk aircraft and see just what it can do in the air. On arrival at Shoreham Airport, your instructor will take you through the necessary safety briefing and anything you need to know before you head for the sky. It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions and let the instructor know of any requests. Once you are up in the air, hang on to your stomach as the instructor will turn the plane upside down so a number of aerobatic moves including a roll, loop and a stall turn. For the bravest among you, take over the controls and under expert guidance, fly the plane all by yourself.
Availability: Seven days a week throughout the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Please allow several weeks notice when booking, particularly for the most popular weekend summer dates. Weather: Aerobatic flying is very weather dependent. It is crucial that you call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of bad weather you’ll be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Chocks-off to chocks-on flight time is 30 minutes, but please allow for up to an hour at the centre. Numbers On Day: Share the aircraft with just the pilot. The briefing session may be shared. Spectators: Spectators are welcome. A camera or a pair of binoculars will come in handy – there will be some great photo opportunities. Pets are not permitted at any airfield (except guide dogs). Dress Code: Wear flat, soft-soled shoes. Any special clothing and headsets will be provided. Bring gloves in cold weather. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Shoreham Airport is located between Brighton and Worthing and easily accessible from either the A27 or the A259. The Real Flying Company are located in the south east corner of the airfield, in the ‘Fast Helicopters’ hangar. Access to the building can be gained from the side door, just follow the signs. Plenty of parking is available. Restrictions: Minimum age is 16, max weight 19 stone (must be in proportion with height). Pregnant women, anyone who has suffered a neck, back or shoulder injury or is unable to climb aboard unaided can’t fly for health and safety reasons. Other Info: We suggest that you only have a light meal at least 45 minutes before your flight. Please don’t drink alcohol before you fly – it will invalidate your flight.
