Description

It’s hard to beat driving around in military vehicles and shooting classic weapons, and this army-inspired experience day lets you do just that. Get kitted out in a camouflage suit and helmet then given a full safety briefing. Next, it’s time to drive three military vehicles around a tough terrain track (usually a Russian Grozdilka tank, an FV 432 armoured personnel carrier and Supacat). The best driver of the day also gets to crush a car with a 56 ton Chieftain tank! This military experience also includes one of the following activities (depending on the day): an informative tour of the armoury and lecture, the possibility of learning how to load and fire mortars and muskets or a challenging clay-pigeon shooting session.

Availability: At least two Saturdays a month from March – September. Weather: The weather shouldn’t stop this experience going ahead, but any cancellations are for your own safety. There are covered areas on-site to shelter in if it’s wet. Duration: Lasts for around four hours, from 9am to 1pm or from 2pm to 6pm, including around 15 minutes driving time. Numbers On Day: Up to 30 people take part. Spectators: A £15 spectator fee (payable on the day) includes a ride on some of the vehicles. You must let us know spectator numbers in advance (min age 7). Facilities are basic but spectators will be able to watch most of the action. Dress Code: A camo suit and helmet will be provided, so there’s no need to wear anything special. Bring wellies and gloves (spectators too) – this one is not for the faint-hearted and everyone usually gets pretty muddy! Guidelines: Exit M1 junction 15a and take the A43 towards Silverstone. Around 8 miles past Silverstone (with Greenman Premier Lodge on right), take the B4525 to Helmdon. Spring Farm is 5 miles along this road. Rather than turning into Helmdon Village, continue straight over Helmdon/Brackley crossroads and look out for the RAF sign. Alternatively, from the M40 junction 10, take the A43 through Brackley. Turn left onto the B4525 and follow directions as above. Restrictions: Minimum age is 13. Minimum height is 5’2”. Participants need to be reasonably fit to take part. No previous driving experience is required. Other Info: Changes to the booking can be accepted strictly no less than 14 days in advance of the event date. Exact vehicles driven on the day may be subject to change, but be assured each one packs a serious punch!
