Description
A must for any high flyer, this exciting 30 minute light aircraft flight in Carlisle is the very best way to experience the thrills and spills of aviation. Start with a safety briefing before hopping into the cockpit of a Piper Tomahawk with an experienced flying instructor to get ready for take-off. Then it’s chocks away – head to the clouds and once at altitude, soak in incredible panoramic views of the picturesque Cumbrian countryside while your trusty instructor effortlessly glides the Piper through the sky. During the flight, the instructor hands over the controls so you can get a taste of what it’s like to pilot a real life light aircraft. For those who catch the aviation bug, this flight actually counts towards a Private Pilot’s Licence.
Availability: Seven days a week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Weekends can get very busy; if a weekend date is required we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance (even earlier for summer weekends). Weather: Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it can be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Lasts around 40 minutes, including a 30 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration. Numbers On Day: The briefing may be shared. The flight is held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch the take off and landing. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age 16. Max weight 15 stone. Max height 6’6”. For security reasons, photographic ID (ideally a passport) MUST be produced by all passengers on the day or they won’t be permitted to fly. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence. To qualify for a PPL 35 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required.
