Treat the family to a fun day out. Go back in time as you board the carriage of a stunning steam train to relax and enjoy the sights of the Hampshire countryside. Trains travel between Alresford and Alton, where there is plenty to see and do. The beautiful market town of Alresford is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll in rural surroundings. Stop off at Alton, once famed for their brewing, to sample some delicious dishes at the local restaurants or head to the Curtis Museum for the Jane Austen trail. Your ticket offers unlimited travel throughout the day, so make a day of it!
Availability: Weekdays and weekend dates throughout the year, subject to availability. Book at least three months in advance. Weather: The weather should not affect this experience but if conditions are extreme please contact the station before leaving home. Duration: Departure times vary between 10.30am – 5pm. Full details are posted with tickets after the booking has been made. Numbers On Day: Each carriage holds around 80 passengers. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to wave from the platform, or can purchase their own tickets on the day. Dress Code: Guidelines: Take the A31 from either the M3 or A34. The A31 is the main Guildford to Winchester trunk road. Turn into Station Road opposite the Bell Inn in the centre of New Alresford. Pay and Display parking is available at the station for a minimal fee (currently less than £2). On arrival, please make your way to the West Country Buffet on the platform. Restrictions: Two adults (aged 18 or over) and two children (aged 2 to 16). Children under two travel for free and dogs £1 each. Trains and stations are accessible for wheelchair users. Other Info: Participants can board and alight unlimited times throughout the day (at a choice of four destinations).
