For anyone who’s ever wanted to experience the excitement of piloting a chopper, this helicopter flying experience is essential. Based at Manchester City Airfield, this thrilling aerial adventure gives high-flyers a chance to take their first steps towards becoming a real helicopter pilot. Kick things off with a safety briefing which includes a run through of the controls of a two-seater R22 helicopter and once strapped in, it’s time for a vertical lift-off! Enjoy 15 minutes of exhilarating flying time and take charge of this nifty aircraft to find out exactly what it’s capable of, with an instructor alongside to offer flying tips and guidance. The feeling of flying a helicopter is immense, as are the views – it’s the ride of a lifetime!

Availability: At least two weekend dates per month throughout the year, excluding the Christmas and New Year period. Weather: Duration: Lasts up to three and a half hours including a briefing, tuition and 15 minutes of hands-on flying time. Numbers On Day: The helicopter flight is one-to-one with just the participant and a seasoned pilot. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch the take-off and landing. A pair of binoculars or a camera comes in handy. Dress Code: Please bear in mind that inside the helicopter can get quite warm. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Min age is 12. Max weight is 14 stone, max height is 6’5”. For security reasons, photographic ID (ideally a passport) MUST be produced on the day to be permitted to fly. Wheelchair users are welcome. Other Info: This experience counts towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). Please note, the lunch is a choice of a buffet style or a voucher for the on-site cafe.
