Recreate the pure pleasure of a vintage flight during this experience in an aircraft that was used by the RAF to train pilots during WWII. After a pre-flight briefing, climb into the cockpit of a vintage De Havilland Tiger Moth and feel the rush of the wind from the open cockpit and enjoy spectacular views as the pilot puts the plane through a series of exciting manoeuvres. Have the opportunity to take the controls yourself and discover the sensation that has made generations of flyers fall in love with these lively little planes. Back on terra firma, receive a flight certificate to take home.

Availability: Selected Friday, Saturday and Sunday dates throughout the main flying season from June to September between 5pm and 9pm. This is a popular experience, so do book several weeks in advance. Weather: Flying is weather dependent and it is crucial that you call the weather line (after 8.30am please) on the day of your flight. The Tiger Moth is an vintage open-cockpit plane and certain weather conditions may result in your flight being rescheduled. Duration: Your flight will last for around 20 minutes from chocks-off to chocks-on. Please arrive 15 – 30 minutes before your flight time to be kitted out and briefed. Allow for at least one hour on site. Numbers On Day: Your briefing may be shared, but only you and your qualified pilot will be in the aircraft during your flight. Spectators: Spectators are welcome. A camera and a pair of binoculars will come in handy. Pets are not permitted at the airfield. Dress Code: Tiger Moths have open cockpits, so wrap up warm. Wear soft-soled shoes. Bring sunglasses and if you have long hair, something to tie it back with. Flying kit (jacket, headset and helmet) is provided. Guidelines: From the A377 at Umberleigh follow the signs for Kingford Hill. At the top of the hill turn left onto the B3217 and turn left at the Radar Station. At the crossroads turn right. The closest rail station is Umberleigh. Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Maximum weight 18 stone. Minimum height 4’11”. If you fit into a standard car seat you should be comfortable in the cockpit. Unsuitable for pregnant women or anyone unable to climb into the open cockpit. Other Info: This vintage aircraft is scrupulously maintained and serviced to ensure your safety.
