Description

The beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire are a great setting for the inspiring atmosphere created by an evening of outdoor live classical music. The Battle Proms evening begins before the first note is played, with Napoleonic Cavalry and Infantry displays. Then, a vintage field fun begins proceedings with a volley of shots, followed by an LF Mark IX Spitfire display by Carolyn Grace to accompany the opening piece. Classical pieces such as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with live cannon and Beethoven’s Battle Symphony with live cannons and muskets are performed by The New English Concert Orchestra. The evening ends with rousing performances of Rule Britannia and Jerusalem followed by colourful fireworks.
