Take to the open waters for a sailing session like no other, and learn how to handle a high performance sailing keelboat with expert tuition. Kick things off with an introductory briefing before donning some waterproofs and a life jacket to get ready for action. Next, head into open water in a world-class SB20 keelboat as part of a small crew and work as a team to control the ropes, man the deck, handle the hull and even take the helm as honorary captain. The feeling of gliding through the water in a professional sailing vessel must be experienced to be believed and, once you’ve dipped your toe in the water, you are likely to want to go sailing again and again.

Availability: Weekend dates from April to mid October. Book at least four weeks in advance (please be aware that bookings are taken up to a maximum of three months ahead). Weather: Sailing is a weather-dependent activity. It’s essential to call the venue for a weather check between 5pm and 7pm on the day before the experience to check weather conditions. Duration: Lasts up to two and a half hours, including a briefing and around an hour and 45 minutes on the water. Numbers On Day: Share the experience with up to three others, plus a qualified instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to wave you off from the shore. Tell them to bring a camera and a pair of binoculars. Dress Code: Dress warmly and bring waterproofs and a change of clothes. Bear in mind that there is a high wind-chill factor aboard the boat. Wear non-slip shoes (e.g. trainers or deck shoes). An old pair of sunglasses/ski goggles are useful if it is windy. Guidelines: From M27, exit J3 onto M271 following signs to ‘Waterfront’. With Ocean Village on your right, drive straight on, under bridge until you reach T junction with ‘The Chapel Arms’ ahead. Turn right, then right again at roundabout by St. Mary’s Stadium (into Belvidere Road). Pick up signposts for Shamrock Quay and turn right into William Street. From M3, exit J14 onto A33, then follow directions as above. Please telephone if you have any problems. Restrictions: Minimum age is 12 (those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).
