Meet a qualified microlight flying instructor for a briefing before getting kitted out and meeting your nimble, GPS equipped Ikarus C42 Bravo to get ready for take-off. Board the Ikarus and take to the skies for a flying experience that you are sure to remember for years to come. Soak in astounding panoramic views of County Durham from the enclosed cockpit as your pilot takes the microlight for a spin through the clouds. During the flight, take over the controls to experience the amazing capabilities of the Ikarus first-hand. For those with the flying bug, this experience even counts towards a Private Microlight Licence.

Availability: Sunday to Monday throughout the year, excluding the Christmas and New Year period. Weather: Weather dependency means short notice cancellations are possible so you MUST call for confirmation before setting off. Any cancellations are rebooked. Duration: Please allow up to an hour at the venue. The flight last a total of 30 minutes. Numbers On Day: The flight is held on a one-to-one basis with a qualified pilot. Spectators: Up to four spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land – don’t let them forget to bring a camera or pair of binoculars. Spectators are welcome to relax in the lounge area, which boasts full panoramic views of the runway. Dress Code: These microlights have enclosed cockpits so there is no need to wrap up warm. We recommend comfortable shoes and sunglasses. Guidelines: Restrictions: Min age 16, max height 6’5”; max weight 18 stone. Passport or both driving licence parts are essential ID requirements and MUST be produced on the day. This is quite a high adrenaline experience, not for the faint hearted. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence for microlighting, for which 15 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required.
