Experience a truly alternative way of flying with an exhilarating helicopter trial flight. After a comprehensive briefing on safety and important helicopter flying techniques, hop aboard a dual-controlled training helicopter accompanied by a fully qualified pilot. Enjoy a breathtaking vertical take-off, before the instructor puts this versatile craft through its paces – move backwards, forwards and even hover in the air motionless. During the session (at the pilot’s discretion), take over the flying duties to really enjoy the sensation of helicopter flight.

Availability: Monday to Saturday all year round, excluding the Christmas period. Weather: Helicopter flying is weather dependent, mainly due to wind speeds and cloud cover. It is CRUCIAL that you call for a weather check. For morning bookings call the venue the day before. For afternoon/evening bookings call on the day before setting out. Duration: The time spent in the helicopter is around 30 minutes from engines-on to engines-off. This includes warm-up, take-off and landing. Numbers On Day: Briefings may be shared. The flight is held one a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land. A pair of binoculars or a camera will come in handy. Dress Code: Please bear in mind that the cockpit can get quite warm and dress accordingly. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: The airfield lies outside the village of Headcorn which is accessible from the A274 road between Sutton Valence and Biddenden. The A274 is accessible from the M20 at Maidstone which is in turn accessible from the M25 (Junction 3 or Junction 5 via the M26). Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Maximum height is 6’4”. Maximum weight 15 stone. You MUST produce photo identification on the day (e.g. passport/photo driving licence). Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence. To qualify for a PPL you need a minimum of 45 hours dual-control flying, of which at least 10 hours must be solo flying. No access to ‘airside’ area is permitted without an accompanying instructor.
