Essential for any high flyer, this 30 minute light aircraft flight in Northumberland is the very best way to experience the thrills and spills of aviation. Kick off with a talk on safety before jumping into the cockpit of a Cessna 152 with a professional flying instructor to prepare for take-off. Then the fun really starts – head to the skies and once at altitude, take in stunning panoramic views of local landscape while your trusty pilot effortlessly glides the Cessna through the clouds. During the flight, take over the controls to get a real taste of what it’s like to pilot a light aircraft. For those wishing to carry on flying, this experience counts towards a Private Pilot’s Licence!
Availability: Seven days a week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Weekends can get very busy; if a weekend date is required we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance (even earlier for summer weekends). Weather: Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it can be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Lasts around 40 minutes, including a 30 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration. Numbers On Day: The briefing might be shared. The flight is held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch the take off and landing. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age 16. Max weight 15 stone. Max height 6’6”. For security reasons, photographic ID (ideally a passport) MUST be produced by all passengers on the day or they won’t be permitted to fly. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence. To qualify for a PPL 35 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required.
