Whether navigating through the clouds under the wing of a professional instructor or simply relaxing and taking in the views, this is the perfect experience for budding pilots and the more experienced alike. Availability: Seven days a week throughout the year, but please note the centre is normally closed during the Christmas period. Weather: Microlighting is extremely weather dependent. Fliers must call the venue before setting out to confirm the experience is able to go ahead as booked. Duration: Expect to be at the venue for up to one and a half hours including a briefing and 60 minutes of microlight flying time. Numbers On Day: Briefings may be shared, but all flights are held on a one-to-one basis with a qualified microlight instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land, dont let them forget to bring a camera or pair of binoculars. They can relax in the cafe and viewing area on the airfield. Dress Code: Microlights have open cockpits, so wrap up warm. We recommend long trousers, closed in shoes, socks and long sleeve jumpers. Bring gloves in winter and sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Maximum weight is 15 stone, maximum height is 6ft. Minimum age is 16 and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Other Info: Your flying time can count towards a microlight private pilot’s licence, for which you need 15 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying to qualify. Please be aware that this is quite a high adrenaline experience, not for the faint hearted.
