Description
This experience offers you a flight in a two seater training plane (either a Cessna 152 or Piper PA28) with a fully qualified instructor. With you sitting by their side, the pilot will take-off in this tiny plane and you can enjoy some wonderful views as you lift-off from the ground on this hour long light aircraft flight, much more stimulating than flying in one of the big planes we all go on holiday in. If both you and your instructor are happy, you can take up the flight controls yourself in order to experience the joy of flying, you might get the flying bug.
Availability: Seven days a week throughout the year. Please note the centre is closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Weather: Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential that you call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If your flight is cancelled because of the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Your experience will last for about 70 minutes, including your 60 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration. Please arrive a few minutes in advance of your booked time. Numbers On Day: Your briefing might be shared. Your flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Cumbernauld airport is located midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow, to the north side of the A80 dual carriageway. Take the Castlecary exit onto the B816 off the A80 northbound just before the second exit from the A80 southbound side (adjacent to the Shell garage) and follow the signs for Cumbernauld Airport and Leading Edge Flight Training. Restrictions: Minimum age 16, maximum height 6′ and maximum weight 14 stone. Other Info: Your flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). To qualify for a PPL you need 35 hours of dual-control and 10 hours solo flying. If you have ever wanted to be a pilot, this is a great way to get started.
