Description
Uncover the wonderful world of aviation with this high-flying 60 minute light aircraft flight in Essex. Begin on firm ground, with a briefing on flight controls, before hopping into the cockpit of a dual-controlled Tecnam, Piper PA28 or Cessna 152 with a qualified instructor. Once in the air, soak in sensational bird’s-eye views of the countryside below whilst your instructor takes the craft for a spin through the clouds to demonstrate its capabilities. During the flight, take over the piloting duties under the guidance of the instructor in order to get a real feel for the unrivalled thrill of flying a plane. For those with the flying bug, this flight time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence.
Availability: Seven days a week, excluding Christmas Day. Due to the popularity of this experience, we recommend booking least four weeks in advance (even earlier for summer weekends). Weather: Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Lasts for about 80 minutes, including a 60 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration. Numbers On Day: Briefings may be shared. The flight itself is held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch take-off and landing. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Exit the M25 at J26 onto the A121 Loughton. At the Old Orleans roundabout take the B172, follow signs to Theydon Bois. Continue through the village towards Abridge and turn left at the T-junction. Follow signs to Stapleford Airfield, the airport is on your right. Restrictions: Maximum weight is 15 stone. Maximum height is 6’3”. For security reasons, photographic id (ideally a passport) MUST be produced by all passengers on the day or they wont be permitted to fly. Other Info: If you have ever wanted to be a pilot, this is a great way to get started, as this flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). To qualify for a PPL you need 35 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying.
