Description

The microlight provides a flying experience unlike any other and must be tried to be truly understood and fully appreciated. Take to the skies in one of these special flying fixed wing craft and see the world from the eyes of a bird, whilst a fully qualified pilot takes you both for a spin through the clouds. During the flight there’s a chance to take charge of the controls of the Ikarus C42 to navigate across the sky under the expert guidance of the pilot and get a real taste for ultra-light aviation. A one day membership to the flying club is included and this session can count towards a microlight Private Pilot’s licence, for those flyers who are bitten by the microlighting bug.

Availability: Seven days a week all year round, excluding 24, 25 and 26 December. Weather: Microlighting is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue between 9am – 8pm for a weather check. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time. Duration: Lasts for about 75 minutes, including a 60 minute flight. Numbers On Day: Briefings may be shared. The flight is held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to come along and watch take off and land. A camera or a pair of binoculars will come in handy. Dress Code: Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Maximum weight is 14 stone and minimum age is 16. Minimum height is 4′ 6” and max height is 6′ 6”. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who’ll be required to sign a disclaimer. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a microlight private pilot’s licence, for which 15 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required to qualify. Please be aware that this is quite a high adrenaline experience, not for the faint-hearted.
