Description

Begin with a safety briefing from an instructor, before a fascinating introduction to rally driving techniques, quite different to normal road driving. Then join the instructor in a rally car for a demo lap around the track, to get an idea of braking points. Then jump into the driving seat of three different cars for around ten very intense minutes each. First up is a Mitsubishi Evolution V, followed by a Subaru WRX Rally, both on tarmac, then hit the loose gravel stage in Group N rally car (usually a Polo or Focus RS). After a break for lunch, get prepared to do it all over again, driving all three cars and ending with a passenger ride at competition speed with a pro driver at the wheel. Receive a driver certificate to take home.

Availability: Selected weekdays and Saturdays throughout the year. Dates fill very quickly; book at least four weeks in advance, even earlier for weekend dates. Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions which would make driving at speed dangerous. Contact will be made if the experience is cancelled for any reason. Duration: Lasts approximately four hours. This includes a briefing, tuition, around an hour of driving time, a passenger ride and debrief. Please arrive 45 minutes in advance of the booked time to ensure a prompt start. Numbers On Day: Total numbers will vary but there will be a maximum of five people in your group. During the driving, only you and the instructor will be in the vehicle. Please be aware that there tends to be a large number of people taking part at weekends. Spectators: Spectators are welcome, get them to bring a camera. The venue has good facilities for spectators and drivers including an American-style diner. Dogs are not allowed. Dress Code: Wear flat shoes which are comfortable for driving. Helmets are provided. Any other special clothing you need is also provided. Guidelines: Prestwold Hall is east of Loughborough and accessible from the A6 (take the B675) and the M1 motorway (exit at junction 23, take the A512 to Loughborough, the A60 towards Nottingham and then the B676 and B675). Restrictions: Min age 18. Min height is 4’10”, max 6’5”. Maximum weight is 20 stone. A full British or international manual driving licence must be produced on the day to guarantee participation.
