Description
Take the wheel of one of the world’s most celebrated rally cars at the Bill Gwynne Rally School. This turbo-charged 4WD beast is just perfect for handling challenging gravelly terrain and sharp corners. Kick off with a full safety briefing and learn about rally driving fundamentals such as skid control, powerslides and handbrake turns on a purpose-built rally stage. Receive two demo laps to get acquainted with the rally stage before jumping into the driving seat of the Subaru Impreza for six high-octane driving sessions and tear around over 800 corners including handbrake turns to slid and skid around. This driving experience concludes with lunch and a certificate presentation.
Availability: Saturdays and weekdays around three times a month throughout the year. Dates fill quickly – book at least six weeks in advance. Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions like flooding, which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue a day in advance to check final arrangements. Duration: Lasts for up to eight hours. The instructor determines the length of each driving session (on average, each session consists of five two minute laps), based on rules set out in the briefing. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure a prompt start. Numbers On Day: There are a maximum of six people per instructor. All in-car instruction is one-to-one. There may be other rally activities taking place on the day. Spectators: Up to two spectators are welcome for £10 each, which includes lunch and refreshments. This must be booked and paid a minimum of seven days in advance, direct with the venue. Dress Code: Dress comfortably and warmly, and wear a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers and flat, thin-soled shoes. A helmet and any other special clothing is provided. Guidelines: Exit the M1, junction 15a, follow A43 for Oxford, passing Towcester, Silverstone and Syresham. From the dual carriageway, turn left for the aerodrome where signposted. After a mile or so, turn right into Turweston Aerodrome and wait at the meeting point on the left hand side of runway. Please exercise caution at all times when on site – beware of potholes and when crossing the runway. Restrictions: Minimum age is 17. Height and weight varies per venue. Min height between 5′ – 5’2”, max height is 6’6”, max weight between 16 – 18 stone. Please check when booking. A full manual driving licence must be produced on the day to guarantee participation. Other Info: Extra high-speed passenger rides can be purchased on the day, subject to availability.
