Description

Flying through the air in a lightweight aircraft is a totally exhilarating experience and an excellent experience for someone who has a passion for flight. Upon arriving at the airfield, a qualified pilot delivers an in depth briefing, as well as giving guidance throughout. Don a flight suit and have a look at the craft to get familiar with the controls. When all is prepared, get in the fixed wing aircraft with the pilot and take to the skies. If you’re lucky, there may be a chance to take control of the microlight and get some flying time that can contribute towards a private pilots licence for microlights.

Availability: Thursdays to Tuesdays all year round – the centre is closed on Wednesdays. Weather: Weather dependency means short notice cancellations are possible so you MUST call for confirmation before setting off. Any cancellations are rebooked. Duration: Please allow up to an hour at the venue. The flight lasts aproximately 30 minutes. Numbers On Day: The briefing might be shared, but the flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with a qualified pilot. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land, dont let them forget to bring a camera or pair of binoculars. They can relax in the cafe and viewing area on the airfield. Sorry, dogs are not permitted at airfields. Dress Code: These microlights have open cockpits, so wrap up warm. We recommend long trousers, closed in shoes, socks and long sleeve jumpers. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum height is 4′ and maximum height is 7′. Maximum weight is 18 stone, maximum age is 79 and minimum age is 16. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who’ll be required to sign a disclaimer. Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence for microlighting, for which 15 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required. Please be aware that this is quite a high adrenaline experience, not for the faint hearted.
