Cars have come a long way since the early 20th century, getting faster, sleeker and more efficient with every new design. But what’s been lost is the joy of travelling for the sake of it – of relaxing and appreciating the surroundings, of taking a drive just because! Step back in time and board a beautiful Stanley steam-powered car dating back to 1909 or 1910 for a leisurely cruise around the British countryside. After savouring hot drinks, the chauffeur sets off on a picturesque route leaving passengers free to photograph the wonderful views and enjoy the rumble of the engine. Tea and cake is provided at a cafe along the way as the steam car is refilled with water. Enjoy a day filled with nostalgia!

Availability: At least one weekend or weekday date available monthly. Weather: This drive may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions that could make driving dangerous. Please call the venue if in doubt. Duration: Three hours. Runs from either 10am – 1pm or 2pm – 5pm. Numbers On Day: Three passengers per car, with a maximum of two cars. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to meet the steam cars at various points along the route to take photographs. Dress Code: Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing should be worn on the day. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age is eight. Maximum weight 22 stone, but no other restrictions apply. Other Info: Photographs taken by staff on the day are emailed to passengers free of charge.
