Description
Join a select club of flyers by taking to the air in a helicopter. At the airfield the instructor gives a briefing on flying techniques and safety before the two of you climb into a dual-controlled training helicopter. The vertical take-off is astounding, and the thrills will continue as the pilot shows how the chopper can move forward, backward, sideways or hover motionless. For anyone wanting the adrenaline rush of manoeuvring such an amazing craft, this is the opportunity as the pilot offers over the controls.
Availability: Six days a week (not Mondays) throughout they year. Weekends are particularly busy, please book at least four weeks in advance. Weather: Helicopter flying is weather dependent, mainly due to wind speeds and cloud cover. It is CRUCIAL that you call for a weather check. For morning bookings call the venue the day before. For afternoon/evening bookings call on the day before setting out. Duration: Your time in the helicopter is around 30 minutes from engines-on to engines-off. This includes warm-up, take-off and landing. Numbers On Day: Your briefing might be shared. Your flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land. A pair of binoculars or a camera will come in handy. Dress Code: Please bear in mind that the cockpit can get quite warm and dress accordingly. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Maximum weight is 17 stone (240lbs). Other Info: Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence. To qualify for a PPL you need a minimum of 45 hours dual-control flying, of which at least 10 hours must be solo flying.
