Description

Originally developed to study aircraft, the powerful wind tunnel allows participants to experience the true sensation of freefall without the need to plummet from the skies. Kick off with a briefing from a qualified instructor, before being issued with a specialist flight suit, stepping into the wind tunnel and taking to the air for two exhilarating 60 second body flying sessions (in comparison, a skydive from 10,000 feet provides 30 seconds of freefall). Conclude with a debrief and some lucky flyers will even get to enjoy an aerobatic display from their instructor.

Availability: Seven days a week throughout the year. The centre is closed on Christmas Day but operates on bank holidays. Weather: The tunnel is indoors and isn’t affected by the weather. Duration: Expect to be on-site for around one and a half hours, including a 20 minute safety briefing, kit issue (15 minutess), two 60 second body flying sessions and a full debrief. Numbers On Day: Training may be shared in a group of up to 12. The flights are held on a one-to-one basis with a fully qualified instructor in the wind tunnel. Spectators: Facilities are excellent and make for a good family outing. Spectators can watch the action from the free viewing gallery. Dress Code: No jewellery or collared shirts. Please wear tight-fitting lace-up trainers (not boots). If suitable footwear isn’t worn, it is compulsory to hire trainers from the venue. Jumpsuits and other equipment are provided. Lockers £1.
