Description

Enjoy this opportunity to tour and experience a World Heritage site by kayak or canoe in the heart of the Welsh countryside. Built by Thomas Telford and William Jessop in 1885, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is considered one of the engineering feats of the industrial revolution. The aqueduct took over 10 years to build and is the longest and highest cast-iron aqueduct in the world, carrying the Llangollen canal over the River Dee at over 120 feet above ground. Your journey begins in the canal system before crossing the thousand foot aqueduct and taking in breath-taking scenery of rural Wales below you.
