Learn how to control your vehicle with a skid control driving experience at Silverstone – the spiritual home of British Motorsport. Controlling a skid can be very useful in bad weather conditions and this experience gives you all the necessary advice and information to combat inclement weather on the highways. Following a short safety briefing, you will venture to the skidpan area for a skid car session based on a hydraulic skid frame built specially for the purpose. Experience the feeling of loss of car control on ice and water under controlled conditions. Learn how to react quickly and efficiently in future on the roads with expert help! End the session with a debrief from the instructor.

Availability: At least one weekend date every two months throughout the year. The circuit closes between mid-December and mid-January for the winter shut-down. Weather: The weather should not affect this experience, but any cancellations are for your own safety. Please call the venue before you leave if in any doubt. Duration: Your experience will last for up to two hours, including briefing and the skidpan session. Please arrive 30 – 40 minutes prior to the start time to attend the essential safety briefing. Numbers On Day: You’ll share your car with up to two other participants and your instructor. You can choose to ride along in the car when not driving, to learn from the other two drivers. Spectators: Spectators are welcome and can bring a camera to record your experience. Please note that pets are not permitted at any circuits. Dress Code: Wear trousers, a long-sleeved shirt and slim, flat-soled shoes comfortable for driving. Please avoid nylon clothing. Guidelines: Silverstone lies on the A43 between Brackley and Towcester and is accessible from junction 15a of the M1, junction 10 (South) or 11 (North) of the M40. Follow the signs for Silverstone Circuit and drive through the main entrance at West 5 to the security gates. Security will then direct you to Drive Silverstone. Restrictions: Minimum height is 5’2”, maximum is 6’7”. Maximum weight is 18 stone and maximum age 70. You MUST produce a full, current manual driving licence on the day. Other Info: When booking expect to be offered the choice of buying a collision damage waiver at £20 to £40 additional charge. Please note there is no obligation to purchase this optional waiver.
