Pulled by an amazing steam locomotive, riding in the Cathedrals Express carriage is a real treat for two. Soak in the British countryside on a range of trips (each running at least once or twice a year). Be completely spoilt for choice with all the wonderful cities you can visit from departure points across the South, the Midlands and London. Cities include Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Canterbury, Lincoln, Salisbury, Carlisle, Ely, Exeter, Bournemouth, Litchfield, Shrewsbury or Weymouth. Whether you want to go sightseeing, shopping or grab a bite to eat, there is something to suit all tastes and plenty of time to explore your chosen city during the day. After this afternoon day out, return to the train and relax on the journey home. This is a real treat for culture vultures and an opportunity to spend top quality time together.

Availability: Trips run periodically from February and become more regular in March once the weather becomes warmer – please check latest availability with the supplier. In particularly dry conditions, trips may not run due to risk of fire. Excludes November and December. Weather: The weather should not affect the experience, however please note that the train runs on the public rail network and is subject to any imposed delays. Duration: Trips can last from 8am to 11.30pm, depending on the destination. The tickets, final timings and a full itinerary is sent several days prior to the departure date. Numbers On Day: Up to 64 passengers travel in each carriage, seated on tables of four. All seating is allocated subject to availability on the day by the supplier and cannot be guaranteed. Spectators: Dress Code: Smart casual wear please. Guidelines: Restrictions: Minimum age is 16. Smoking is not permitted on board. Only folding wheelchairs can be stored on board.
