Once upon a time (in the early 1900s) the steam car was cutting-edge technology. Modern cars have since driven them almost to extinction, but what most people don’t know is that it remains one of the most opulent and charming ways to travel. Forget A-to-B; this is a chance to appreciate views of 14th century stately homes, resevoirs, rolling fields and quaint villages at a leisurely pace in total comfort. This full day tour takes place in a shiny Stanley steam car and chuffs cheerily through the countryside with a stop for lunch at a canalside pub. And the highlight – each passenger gets to spend at least an hour behind the wheel of this beautiful antique vehicle, with expert instruction from the chauffeur – guaranteed to put a smile on any face.
